Montesanto Foodwalk: augmented reality app explores Naples' gastronomic traditions
Montesanto Foodwalk, an augmented reality soundwalk app, launches on December 18, 2016, focusing on the gastronomic traditions of Naples' Montesanto district. The app uses geolocation sensors to turn smartphones into interactive guides featuring stories, interviews, and sounds from local residents. Curated by Pasquale Napolitano, sound design expert at the Academy of Fine Arts of Naples and Nevermind, the project aims to bridge the gap between tourists and locals by having inhabitants narrate their own experiences. The app covers areas from the Pignasecca market to Portamedina and former Mensa dei Bambini proletari at vico Cappuccinelle 13. It will be presented on December 9 at the Museo Nitsch as part of the second stage of the project 'Il (buon)gusto dell’innovazione: riflessioni e azioni sull’immaginario culinario della città.' The app is produced by Fondazione Premio Napoli and available for free download from their website and the Apple Store.
