Montecatini inaugura il Museo della Terra, dedicato a geologia e storia locale

In Val di Cecina, the Museo della Terra has opened in Montecatini, distinct from Montecatini Terme. This new museum, part of the PNRR Borghi initiative, has transformed Palazzo Pretorio, the historic town hall, through structural and technological enhancements, particularly in the entrance and upper floors, creating an innovative exhibition path. Utilizing digital technology, visitors can delve into the local history, spanning from the Etruscan era to modern times, presented like pages in a digital book. The ground floor focuses on geology, essential for understanding settlement dynamics. Cultural assessor David Querci collaborated with Ilaria Benetti from the Pisa-Livorno Superintendency and Sergio Piane from the Friends of the Natural History Museum of Rosignano Marittimo, with the mayor, Francesco Auriemma, overseeing the project. The museum features seven rooms equipped with viewers, QR codes, and the "loquis" system, tracing history from the Villanovan period (9th century BC) to the salt and copper exploitation in the 19th and 20th centuries, uniting the historical fragments of the region between Volterra and the sea for the first time.
