Monte Carlo Festival 2017: Renaissance to Electroacoustic Music

festival-fair · 2026-05-05

The 2017 Monte Carlo Festival, running from March 17 to April 8, will feature a diverse program spanning Renaissance music (Claude Lejeune, Palestrina, Lassus) to contemporary and electroacoustic works. Alongside international stars like pianist Hélène Grimaud and ensembles such as the Frankfurt Radio Symphony, the Monte Carlo and Nice Philharmonics, and Les Siècles, the festival will spotlight five young artists. A weekend will be dedicated to piano in all its forms, including a portrait of Hector Berlioz. The Congolese Kinshasa Orchestra returns after its 2003 Monaco debut. A new feature is the Monaco Music Forum, a day of theater, music, dance, and installations across multiple halls at the Rainier III Auditorium. Outreach begins in January with decentralized concerts in the French Riviera and private recitals, continuing during the festival with artist meetings, roundtables, and masterclasses. A workshop on the Iannix multimedia platform returns after last year's success.
