Montalto delle Marche: PNRR-funded cultural regeneration of a historic Italian borgo
The Metroborgo MontaltoLab project is revitalizing Montalto delle Marche, located in Ascoli Piceno, with funding from Italy's PNRR through the MIC's 'Attrattività dei Borghi' initiative. This project aims to integrate urban opportunities with the cultural richness of the borgo. Restoration efforts will target nine historic structures, including Palazzo Paradisi and the Monastery of Santa Chiara, which were affected by the 2016 earthquake, for cultural and educational use. Montalto has been chosen as a pilot borgo for the Marche region and will host ArtLab. Territori, Cultura, Innovazione on April 11-12. Mayor Daniel Matricardi highlighted the pressing one-month timeline and ongoing work at sites such as Torre Civica and Palazzo Paradisi, with community engagement in logo design and artistic residencies.
