Monster Chetwynd's 'Lysistrata' Exhibition at Gregor Staiger in Milan

Monster Chetwynd's third solo show at Gregor Staiger, titled 'Lysistrata', is on view at the gallery's Milan location. The first section features watercolor paintings inspired by Aristophanes' ancient Greek comedy 'Lysistrata', set during the Peloponnesian War in the 5th century BC. The play centers on a sex strike organized by women to force their husbands to end the war. Chetwynd's paintings combine abstract representations with vibrant colors and spontaneous watercolor effects, framed in antique-style frames reminiscent of 19th-century paintings. The second section showcases blown-glass objects depicting ducks, birds, and plants, presented through female and fantastical figures. The exhibition emphasizes contrast and allows viewers to bring their own perspectives.
