Mono: 6 sqm Sound Art Space Opens in Perugia

In Perugia, a new exhibition space called Mono has opened at Via Pinturicchio 25, measuring just 6 square meters. It is the headquarters of Officina Sonora APS, an association dedicated to sound practices and contemporary arts. Inaugurated on December 27, Mono's inaugural exhibition is Echoes, a site-specific installation by sound designer and composer Federico Ortica, exploring the acoustic memory of the space, on view until January 11. The installation features five steel plates with transducers and sound signals, creating a dreamlike landscape. Riccardo Toccacielo, president of Officina Sonora APS, stated that the programming includes curatorial formats such as OFF, which presents works behind closed doors visible through the window, and future formats for podcasts, debut musical works, and a performance cycle called Martirii | sacro contemporaneo in collaboration with the Conservatory and Academy of Fine Arts. Starting in spring, Mono will also host dance and performance experiments. Officina Sonora APS works with schools on listening education, recognized in 2025 by INDIRE as a good educational practice.
