Monitor and Lehmann + Silva Launch Mel Project in Porto

On September 21, 2024, the Monitor gallery, which has been around since 2003 in Rome and also has spots in Pereto and Lisbon, is teaming up with Lehmann + Silva, a gallery that started in Porto in November 2017, to kick off a year-long project called Mel. This will happen at Earlymade Cedofeida, a unique space for a Portuguese fashion brand that supports artist residencies. Mel aims to feature both new and established artists in places like Black-box, Montra, and Logradouro, breaking away from traditional exhibition spaces. Paola Capata, the director of Monitor, shared that this is the first project in Portugal to blend contemporary art, dining, and fashion, with four exhibitions set from late 2024 to early 2025. The inaugural exhibition will run from September 21 to November 9, 2024, showcasing artists like Dalila Gonçalves (1982), Sergio Carronha (1984), Laurent Montaron (1972), and Joana Hintze (1993). The venue, curated by Patrícia and Emanuel De Sousa, opened in 2016 in Porto's lively Bombarda Art District.
