Monika Sosnowska's 'Weight of Matter' at South London Gallery

This autumn, the South London Gallery (SLG) is set to present 'Weight of Matter,' a notable exhibition by Polish artist Monika Sosnowska, who was born in 1972 in Ryki. The event will span the Main Gallery and both levels of the Fire Station, showcasing large sculptures that reinterpret materials like steel and concrete, which are tied to modernist architecture. Sosnowska's work delves into the transformation of urban landscapes and how architecture reflects social and political changes, particularly following the fall of the Communist regime in Poland and the lasting impact of modernism. A striking, site-specific installation in the Victorian Main Gallery will feature a number of never-before-seen artworks.
