Monica Stambrini's Documentary on Isabella Ducrot Premieres

publication · 2026-04-26

Monica Stambrini's documentary 'Tenga duro signorina! Isabella Ducrot. Unlimited' has been released, celebrating the life and work of artist Isabella Ducrot. Born Antonia Mosca in 1931, Ducrot began her artistic career after age 50, initially focusing on textiles from Eastern Europe before expanding to paper drawings and monotypes. Her works often feature erotic subjects, still lifes, and circular dances, exuding a joy for life that has intensified post-pandemic. The film originated from a chance encounter at a fundraising event for a porn project, where Ducrot donated erotic drawings, and later at T293 gallery's 2022 exhibition 'Also on view: Tendernesses'. Stambrini followed Ducrot for two years, capturing her story with a handheld camera. The documentary highlights Ducrot's journey from poverty and insecurity to artistic fulfillment, aided by her partner Vicky. It features contributions from editors Paola Freddi and Elsa De Falco Bonomi, music by Elisa Abela, producer Beatrice Bulgari, and executive producer Daniele Occhipinti of Eolo Film Productions. The film premiered in Venice and is set for a long run.
