Monica Preti Named Scientific Director of Pistoia Musei

Monica Preti has been named the new Scientific Director of Pistoia Musei, taking over from Philip Rylands. She was chosen from a pool of 70 applicants by a selection committee that included Michele Coppola, Arturo Galansino, and Giuseppe Gherpelli. Preti, who holds a PhD in modern art history from the European University Institute of Florence (2001), boasts a wealth of international experience, having worked at INHA and INP, and served as Head of Cultural Programming at the Musée du Louvre from 2006 to 2021. Her three-year term starts on May 3, 2021, during which she plans to enhance local partnerships, focus on underserved audiences, improve digital cataloging, and link museums with the city, highlighted by the reopening of the ancient church of San Salvatore.
