Monia Ben Hamouda Wins 4th MAXXI Bulgari Prize
Monia Ben Hamouda, born in 1991 in Milan, has been awarded the fourth MAXXI Bulgari Prize, a partnership between the MAXXI museum in Rome and Bulgari that began in 2018. Her installation, "Theology of Collapse (The Myth of Past) I – X," was selected by a jury that included Andrea Lissoni, Diana Campbell, Francesco Stocchi, Nicolas Bourriaud, and Ute Meta Bauer. Other contenders were Riccardo Benassi, born in 1982 in Cremona, and Binta Diaw, born in 1995 in Milan. Ben Hamouda's work comprises ten iron panels cut with lasers, inspired by Islamic calligraphy and adorned with spices. Additionally, Roberto Fassone, born in 1986 in Savigliano, received a special mention for "And we thought" in the new MAXXI Bulgari Prize for Digital Art. The announcement also revealed the Bulgari American Academy fellowship in Rome.
