Monet and Modigliani Swap Between Cerruti Collection and Museum Barberini

The Cerruti Collection, a wing of the Castello di Rivoli Museum of Contemporary Art since 2019, launches the international exchange program 'Opere in viaggio.' The first exchange involves a Modigliani painting from the Fondazione Francesco Federico Cerruti per l'Arte loaned to the Museum Barberini in Potsdam, which in turn lends a Monet to the Rivoli villa. Claude Monet's 'La Falaise et la Porte d'Aval' (1885) will be on display at the Cerruti Collection from November 25, 2023, to August 18, 2024, viewable by small groups of 12 people per slot, six slots daily on weekends. The Modigliani painting, 'Jeune femme à la robe jaune (Renée Modot)' (1918), travels to Germany for the exhibition 'Modigliani: Modern Gazes' at the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart (November 24, 2023 – March 17, 2024) and then at the Museum Barberini (April 26 – August 18, 2024). Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev, director of Castello di Rivoli until December 31, 2023, stated the program aims to evolve the institution from a lender to a borrower. Francesco Manacorda will succeed her on January 1, 2024, overseeing both the museum and the Cerruti Foundation. The Museum Barberini, founded by Hasso Plattner (SAP), opened in 2017 and houses a collection spanning ancient sculptures, Baroque and Impressionist paintings, and works by Rembrandt, Van Gogh, Picasso, and Richter.
