Mona Ayyash's 'The Clock Doesn't Care' Explores Repetitive Movements

Mona Ayyash's inaugural solo exhibition, 'The Clock Doesn't Care,' is currently showcased at 421 Arts Campus in Abu Dhabi. This exhibition features a collaborative video project involving actors, dancers, and performance artists, focusing on the theme of repetitive, non-functional movements. It probes the delicate balance between the concepts of passing time and wasting it. Collaborators, chosen via an open call, captured their interpretations of movement prompts that delve into the idea of 'doing nothing.' Ayyash intricately edits the footage, layering it to emphasize the ordinary as bodies engage in repetitive actions. The exhibition, which lacks a definitive narrative, playfully questions the objective essence of time and includes immersive viewing platforms designed to evoke boredom through repetition. This initiative stems from Ayyash's involvement in the 2020 Homebound Residency Program, and she is also a participant in the 2024 421 Artistic Development Program.
