Moment Factory's AURA transforms historic sites into permanent immersive experiences

Moment Factory's AURA series redefines cultural heritage activation by converting historic buildings into permanent nighttime immersive installations using light, sound, and projection mapping. Launched in 2017 in Montreal during the city's 375th anniversary, the project now operates at four iconic locations: Notre-Dame Basilica in Montreal, Dôme des Invalides in Paris, Grace Cathedral in San Francisco, and Saint-Roch Church in Quebec. Each site-specific installation involves high-precision 3D scans and custom acoustic work, synchronized via the proprietary X-Agora platform to create sensory narratives that highlight architectural details often missed in daylight. AURA has attracted over 2.2 million visitors, generating significant revenue partly directed toward building conservation, while also boosting cultural tourism. The initiative has received international recognition, including THEA Awards and PRIX NUMIX, demonstrating its success in revitalizing public engagement with heritage institutions. Developed over nine years, AURA collaborates closely with host institutions to ensure conservation standards and seamless technology integration, prioritizing architectural significance and emotional connection.
