MoMA Silent Movie Week 2026 features exclusive collection restorations
The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) is set to host its fourth annual Silent Movie Week, scheduled for July 29 to August 3, 2026. This year marks a significant milestone, as all seven silent film restorations are sourced solely from MoMA's own collection. Notably, The Student Prince in Old Heidelberg (1927) and A Dog's Life/Shoulder Arms (1918) have been restored to their original domestic theatrical versions for the first time since their initial releases. MoMA's print of The Student Prince is now recognized as the only surviving copy of the 1927 cut. The series will showcase these restorations in the museum's theaters, including five world premieres and two American premieres, accompanied by live music.
