MoMA Anthology Examines Post-1989 Central and Eastern European Art

The Museum of Modern Art in New York has published a critical anthology titled 'Art and Theory of Post-1989 Central and Eastern Europe.' Edited by Ana Janevski, Roxana Marcoci, and Ksenia Nouril, this 408-page volume explores artistic developments in the region following the fall of the Iron Curtain. The book includes an interview with artist Sanja Iveković, who notes the difficulty of defining Eastern Europe. Curator Raluca Voinea also contributes to the publication, which is part of MoMA's ongoing series of critical anthologies. The work addresses the complex challenges of documenting and analyzing art from this historically significant period. Published in 2018, the anthology represents a scholarly effort to map three decades of artistic production across Central and Eastern Europe.
