Molteni&C Opens Palazzo Molteni Showroom in Milan, Skips Salone del Mobile 2025

architecture-design · 2026-04-26

Molteni&C has opened Palazzo Molteni, a new 3,000-square-meter showroom spanning seven floors at Via Manzoni 9 in Milan, near La Scala. The neoclassical late-19th-century building, softened by a 1922 Art Nouveau renovation by Giuseppe Mentasti and Stefano Lissoni, was redesigned by Belgian architect and creative director Vincent Van Duysen. The space showcases collections from Molteni&C and Dada, featuring pieces by Jean Nouvel, Herzog & de Meuron, Ron Gilad, and Naoto Fukasawa, alongside artworks and sculptures. The top two floors house a gallery for exhibitions and events. Notably, Molteni&C will not participate in the 2025 Salone del Mobile, marking the first time the company—one of the fair's 13 founding members in 1961—has skipped the event. The company was also present at the Mostra Selettiva del Mobile di Cantù in the 1950s, whose first catalog cover was designed by Bruno Munari. The impact on Milan's design ecosystem and the balance between Salone and Fuorisalone remains to be seen.
