Mohammad Alfaraj's 'The Date Fruit of Knowledge' at Mennour, Paris

exhibition · 2026-04-22

Saudi artist Mohammad Alfaraj (b. 1993, Al-Ahsa) presents 'The Date Fruit of Knowledge' at Kamel Mennour's Left Bank gallery in Paris, running until 22 July. The exhibition features works made from organic materials such as palm fronds, dates, dirt, and charcoal. A stop-motion film of nearly 15 minutes, projected onto Saudi earth on the gallery floor, tells a fable about a bird seeking limitless knowledge from a date palm. The show includes sculptures, drawings, and a video 'Glimpses of Now' (2015–ongoing) with phone footage. Alfaraj's fingerprints appear throughout in charcoal and terracotta pigment. The work explores themes of knowledge, surveillance, and ecological interdependence.
