Moëhr Revives Grand Hôtel de Monte-Carlo Perfumery

other · 2026-05-23

Brothers Vincent and Nicolas Poylo have revived Moëhr, a historic perfume house originally founded at the Grand Hôtel de Monte-Carlo in 1881 by perfumer Nestor Moëhr. The hotel, opened by César Ritz, housed artisans including a perfumer. After the hotel closed, La Parfumerie de Monte-Carlo disappeared. The Poylo brothers relaunched the brand with six fragrances named after imaginary guests, in bottles inspired by hotel archives. The idea emerged in 2023 when Nicolas researched César Ritz while working on the Hotel Drei Berge in Mürren. The brothers studied early 20th-century travel cases and silverware, drawing inspiration from Martin-Guillaume Biennais, copper savarin molds used by Chef Auguste Escoffier, and period tableware. The glass flutes are made in Veneto, with zinc caps and calligraphy by Mexican painter Esteban Fuentes de Maria. The scents—Septime, Swann, Sinclair, Jadis, Otis, and Benedict—range from powdery florals to ambery spices, crafted by Mane using CO2 extraction. From 1 June, Moëhr will be available at Antonia via Sant'Andrea in Milan, rolling out to other European retailers.
