Modus Operandi: New Online Platform Explores Artistic Process

Modus Operandi is a new online platform launched by curators Matilde Scaramellini and Elena Vaninetti to document and analyze the creative process behind artworks. Using photos, videos, and text, the site focuses on the Italian art scene. It features two sections: 'Interviste,' where artists and cultural figures speak in video interviews against a white background, and 'Studio Visit,' where the curators visit artists' studios to capture the workflow. Initial interviewees include Marcella Manni, a curator at Metronom with degrees in Philosophy and Cultural Heritage Law from the University of Bologna and Museum Management from Luiss Business School in Rome, and Luca Panaro, a critic and contemporary art curator. Early studio visits feature Fabrizio Vatieri from Naples and Teresa Giannico from Bari. The platform aims to provide critical insight into the often-discussed but rarely concretely addressed issues in the Italian art world.
