Modern Dazed Launches NOWNESS Awards Honoring Film and Video Innovators

Modern Dazed, a collaboration between Modern Media and Dazed Media, revealed the recipients of its first NOWNESS Awards on 28 November 2019. The ceremony took place at the Modern Media Gallery within London's V&A museum. These awards recognize emerging talent in film and video, highlighting individuals identified by the NOWNESS team and its creative network as promising figures for 2020. Honorees include photographer and filmmaker Campbell Addy, artist Korakrit Arunanondchai, multidisciplinary creator Baloji, choreographer and artist Ivan Blackstock, director and choreographer Holly Blakey, filmmaker Rhea Dillon, writer-director A.V. Rockwell, artist Jacolby Satterwhite, film director Sandra Winther, and director-writer Xinyuan Xheng Lu. A distinguished jury, featuring Dazed Media co-founder Jefferson Hack, film director Luca Guadagnino, artist Martine Syms, Serpentine Gallery artistic director Hans Ulrich Obrist, artist Daniel Arsham, designer Matthew Williams, filmmaker Jenn Nkiru, artist Andrew Thomas Huang, model-designer Alexa Chung, designer-artist Michele Lamy, artist and stage designer Es Devlin, Haus der Kunst artistic director Andrea Lissoni, stylist Lucia Liu, and model Lily Cole, selected the winners. The event celebrated breakthrough cultural achievements in moving image media.
