Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth's Billboard Art Project Features Mark Bradford

exhibition · 2026-04-27

The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth in Texas has been running Modern Billings since 2018, a project that places art on billboards to reach diverse socioeconomic communities. In partnership with Clear Channel Outdoor, the museum uses donated billboards for temporary outdoor exhibitions in underserved areas on the outskirts of Fort Worth. The initiative proved especially relevant during pandemic lockdowns, allowing residents to view art from their cars without leaving the vehicle. Now, artist Mark Bradford (born Los Angeles, 1961), known for his abstract paper-based paintings, will display works on three billboards starting July 1, coinciding with the museum's reopening. The billboards feature images from archival photos of a former high-society hairdresser from St. Louis.
