Modena seeks director for new Polo per l'Immagine Contemporanea

The city of Modena and Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Modena have launched a public call for applications for the position of Director of the newly established Polo per l'Immagine Contemporanea. This new institution will integrate three existing entities—Galleria Civica, Museo della Figurina, and Fondazione Fotografia—into a single legal entity, following a protocol signed earlier. The Polo aims to consolidate their artistic and professional resources, enhance their specificities, and boost their national and international visibility. While a permanent home at the Polo Estense within the Sant'Agostino redevelopment project is envisioned, the Polo will initially operate from the current venues: Palazzina dei Giardini Ducali, Foro Boario, and Mata (ex Manifattura Tabacchi). The director will serve a four-year term (renewable for another four) starting in early 2017, with an annual gross salary of €70,000. Responsibilities include launching and implementing the artistic and management program. A committee of experts appointed by the city and foundation will shortlist up to ten candidates for interviews, based on criteria including a university degree, at least five years of experience directing museums or cultural institutions, organizing modern and contemporary art exhibitions, fluency in English, and proven international experience.
