Modena's Digital Autumn: Jon Rafman and Ryoichi Kurokawa Exhibitions
Fondazione Modena Arti Visive, directed by Diana Baldon, will open two solo exhibitions simultaneously on September 14, 2018, coinciding with the Festival Filosofia dedicated to Truth. Jon Rafman's 'Il viaggiatore mentale' at Galleria Civica's Palazzina dei Giardini presents installations from 2011 onward, exploring reality versus simulation through digital animation and VR. Rafman, known for his 2009 '9 Eyes' project using Google Street View, incorporates photography, video, sculpture, and installation, including 'Dream Journal 2016-2017' with music by James Ferraro and Oneohtrix Point Never. Ryoichi Kurokawa's 'al-jabr (algebra)' at Palazzo Santa Margherita, in collaboration with NODE festival (November 14-17), features multisensory works blending sound and image in 'time-based sculpture.' The exhibition runs until February 24, 2019.
