Moby Releases New Ambient Album Exclusively on Calm App

publication · 2026-05-04

Musician and activist Moby has chosen Calm, the world's leading sleep and meditation app, as the exclusive distribution platform for his new ambient album Long Ambients 2. The album, a sequel to his 2016 release Long Ambients 1: Calm. Sleep, features six instrumental tracks each lasting about 37 minutes, totaling over four hours of music designed to aid sleep and relaxation. Calm, winner of Apple's Best of 2018 award, hosts Calm Music, a rapidly growing streaming service that has amassed over 150 million streams from nearly 200 tracks since its launch 18 months ago. Moby is the first artist to release an album through Calm; the album will be exclusive to the app until June 15, after which it will become available on other platforms including iTunes and Spotify. Michael Acton Smith OBE, co-founder of Calm, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, noting that more artists, including Grammy winners, are approaching Calm Music. Moby created the music to help himself and others with sleep issues, anxiety, or difficulty calming down. The original Long Ambients 1 achieved nine million streams on Spotify and numerous free downloads on WeTransfer.
