Mobilization to defend architecture competitions after Palazzo dei Diamanti controversy

The organization Amate l’Architettura, led by its president, has launched an appeal to defend architecture competitions in Italy following a controversial intervention by the Minister of Cultural Heritage and Activities, Alberto Bonisoli, regarding the international design competition for the restoration and addition to Palazzo dei Diamanti in Ferrara. The minister's last-minute decision, influenced by extra-competition media pressure, effectively nullified the competition's result, undermining legal certainty and the trust between designers and public administration. The appeal calls on the Order of Architects and its president to file a complaint with the Court of Auditors, demand explanations from Minister Bonisoli, and request the Director General of Fine Arts, Archaeology and Landscape, Gino Famiglietti, to revoke the blocking measure or resign.
