Moacir dos Anjos curates 'Festa das falas' at Nara Roesler São Paulo, marking gallery's 50th anniversary

The exhibition 'Festa das falas' opened at Galeria Nara Roesler in São Paulo on March 31, running through May 9. Curated by Moacir dos Anjos, this show launches a series celebrating Nara Roesler's five decades as a gallerist, with additional presentations planned at the gallery's Rio de Janeiro and New York locations. Dos Anjos has assembled emblematic works by artists connected to Brazil's Northeast region, particularly Recife, reflecting Roesler's own origins. The curator notes the exhibition aims to capture a distinctive way of speaking and belonging through artistic voices from that territory. Francisco Brennand's rare 1976 ceramic panel 'Sem título,' measuring nearly eight meters long, appears alongside works from private collections. José Cláudio, Roesler's first collaborator before she established her gallery, features prominently; he received a retrospective curated by Aracy Amaral at Nara Roesler São Paulo in 2022. Dos Anjos previously curated two exhibitions for the gallery: 'Cães Sem Plumas [Prólogo]' in 2013 as part of the Roesler Hotel project, and 'Deriva,' a Cao Guimarães solo show at Nara Roesler New York in 2016. He also curated Marcelo Silveira's 'Hotel Solidão' at the New York space in 2022. The current exhibition operates Monday through Friday from 10:00 to 19:00, and Saturdays from 11:00 to 15:00 at Avenida Europa, 655 in São Paulo.
