MMCA Seoul Survey 'This is (Not) Conceptual Art' Traces Korean Conceptualism

The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea (MMCA) in Seoul presents 'This is (Not) Conceptual Art', running from June 19 to October 11, 2026. The exhibition surveys Korean conceptual art from the 1970s to the present, featuring works by over 20 artists including Lee Kun-Yong, Kim Beom, Cody Choi, and Kim Yong-ik. Highlights include Lee Kun-Yong's 'Logic of Place' (1975), Kim Beom's 'Landscape #1' (1995) and 'A Rock That Learned the Poetry of Jung Jiyong' (2010), and Cody Choi's 'Modeling for Scamps, Scram' (1994/2026). The show also includes works by Kyojun Lee, Yoon Jin Sup, Ahn Kyuchul, Kim Soungui, Joo Jaehwan, Chung Seoyoung, Gimhongsok, Kong Sunghun, U Sunok, Kim Sora, Park Hyunki, Inhwan Oh, Sung Neung Kyung, Tchah-Sup Kim, Kwak Duckjun, Bahc Yiso, Kim Yongchul, and others. Installation views and individual works are documented in the exhibition's online presentation. The exhibition is curated by the MMCA and is part of the museum's ongoing program to reassess Korean art history.
