Mizzi Studio's Serpentine Coffee House Opens in Hyde Park

architecture-design · 2026-05-04

The Serpentine Coffee House, designed by Mizzi Studio, has opened in Hyde Park, London, replacing a former kiosk. The structure, described as 'a snake emerging from the lake' due to its sinuous form and bronze-colored roof, is part of The Royal Parks Kiosks initiative, a series of about ten structures by Mizzi Studio placed between Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park. Located strategically between the Serpentine Galleries, overlooking the Serpentine Lake and towards the Princess Diana Memorial Fountain, the coffee house features a semi-transparent glass pavilion with a pagoda-like roof, hand-painted to resemble aged brass, accommodating over 60 guests. Jonathan Mizzi stated to Wallpaper that 'parks exist to enrich citizens' lives' and that the kiosks provide important services, transforming the park's identity. Rob Colicci, director of Colicci, the café chain operating the venue, noted seven years of collaboration with Mizzi Studio, praising their creativity and ambition. Mizzi Studio, based in London and Valletta, Malta, comprises architects, interior designers, and industrial designers.
