MIT Museum to Present 'Crochet Coral Reef' Exhibition

The MIT Museum in Cambridge, Massachusetts, will host 'Crochet Coral Reef,' an exhibition running from August 14, 2026, to February 14, 2027. The show features hand-crocheted forms inspired by coral reefs, created by Australian sisters Margaret Wertheim and Christine Wertheim. It also includes paper sculptures by Erik and Martin Demaine that visualize unsolved scientific problems. The exhibition merges art, mathematics, marine science, and community participation, offering an immersive exploration of coral reef ecosystems, which are threatened by rising ocean temperatures and bleaching. This is the first exhibition in OCEANS, the museum's thematic season dedicated to ocean mysteries.
