MIT List Center Adds Nine Works for Student Lending Program's 49th Year
The List Visual Arts Center at MIT is kicking off the 49th year of its Student Lending Art Program (SLAP) by adding nine new artworks to its collection. Students can borrow these pieces for free, joining a total of over 700 framed artworks available. Notable new additions include creations from Jennie C. Jones and Nayland Blake, which will be on display at the List Center later this month. Established in 1977, SLAP allows students to enrich their spaces with contemporary art throughout the school year. From August 31 to September 13, the entire collection will be showcased, giving students a chance to view and enter a lottery for their favorite pieces, while others can pick from what’s left on a first-come, first-served basis. This initiative has become a key part of MIT's culture, promoting engagement with contemporary art, and the List Center remains dedicated to making art accessible beyond traditional galleries.
