Missoni Art Colour Exhibition at Fashion and Textile Museum London

exhibition · 2026-05-05

The Fashion and Textile Museum in London presents 'Missoni Art Colour', a show exploring the interplay between art and fashion in the Missoni brand. Curated by Luciano Caramel, the exhibition features 42 iconic garments from 1953 to 2014 alongside works by artists such as Lucio Fontana, Fortunato Depero, Gino Severini, Giuseppe Capogrossi, Dadamaino, Grazia Varisco, Bruno Munari, and Sonia Delaunay, many from the Museo Maga di Gallarate and private collections. Also on display are geometric paintings from the 1970s by Ottavio Missoni, sketches, and large-format tapestries. The show highlights how 20th-century art influenced Missoni's creative development, from the 1958 debut label at La Rinascente to the iconic zigzag patterns of the 1960s and the 'put it together' style coined at Pitti in 1970. Rosita Missoni, alongside her children Angela (creative director since 1997) and Luca (archive director), credits London for the brand's origins, where she met Ottavio in 1948. The exhibition runs until September 4, 2016.
