Miren Doiz's exhibition 'Algunas posibilidades (a partir de basura y simulacro)' opens at BilbaoArte

exhibition · 2026-04-20

Miren Doiz (Pamplona, 1980) presents her exhibition 'Algunas posibilidades (a partir de basura y simulacro)' at BilbaoArte's Sala Uribitarte40, running until May 31. The show examines contemporary production and destruction cycles through found objects collected from streets, addressing social, political, and ecological issues like real estate speculation, eviction processes, and waste accumulation. Doiz, originally trained in painting, transcends traditional canvas to create sculptural, inhabitable environments. She transforms dried paint, glass fragments, and other discarded materials into art, advocating for circular economies and recycling. A parallel program includes guided tours in Euskera (April 22) and Spanish with Spanish Sign Language interpretation (April 29). On May 14, Itsaso Iribarren and Germán de la Riva will perform, followed by a book presentation on May 21 featuring Doiz and art historian-curator Emma Brasó. The exhibition is organized by Bilbao's City Council Artistic Production Center.
