Mirabel Wigon's Two Coats Residency Explores Ecological Entanglement
From May 31 to June 5, 2026, Mirabel Wigon, an artist and educator based in California, will be the resident artist at Two Coats of Paint's studio in Long Island City. Wigon's artistry merges ecology, philosophy, and visual art, focusing on what she describes as 'messy entanglement'—the intricate connections that shape life on our planet. Her work goes beyond typical botanical illustrations, turning plants into central figures in stories of disruption and resilience. She views life as a result of collaboration and change, calling her art 'compost'—a creative chaos that sparks new possibilities. Currently, she teaches at California State University, Stanislaus, and has displayed her art in various galleries. An open studio will take place on June 3 from 5–7 pm, and her exhibition 'Earth Stars' is set for July 10 to August 16, 2026, at Pence Gallery in Davis, CA.
