Ministry of Awe Opens Immersive Art Experience in Philadelphia Bank Building

exhibition · 2026-05-07

In the heart of Philadelphia's historic banking area, a new art experience called the Ministry of Awe has opened inside a 19th-century bank building that has six floors. This project is co-founded by the talented muralist and stained glass artist Meg Saligman. One standout feature is a giant electronic nose that humorously comments on people's financial choices, saying things like, "You reek of poor financial decisions" or "Ah, fresh from the A.T.M. and regretting it." Saligman sees this installation as a response to our growing isolation and a way to foster community connections. The Ministry of Awe joins other immersive attractions like Meow Wolf and Otherworld, with initial ideas stemming from a hidden room in her old studio in South Philadelphia.
