Mimosa Echard's 'FRIENDS' Ferments Daily Objects at Galerie Samy Abraham

At Galerie Samy Abraham, Mimosa Echard's exhibition 'FRIENDS' (2017) presents works that blur boundaries between interior and exterior, organic and artificial. A black tray contains a fermented kombucha mixture with amber hues, holding beads, bracelets, photographs, and daily traces in a symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast. This collaborative drink, made with Michel Blazy and Anne Bourse, is known for digestive benefits. On the walls, a dozen large silver gelatin prints resemble turned skins with blood-red, pink, and brown marbling, recalling anatomical plates and Jana Sterbak's meat sculptures. The works incorporate organza, fabrics, cherry and apricot pits, dried flowers, glass beads, fertility capsules, gold leaf, silk, and plastic. A small branch with a pendant supports an oak gall. The central installation 'FRIENDS' (2017) features bolster-like forms containing plastic eggs, blueberries, plastic ammonites, poppies, candies, postcards, snail shells, and audio equipment. The title 'Friends' references shared moments, intimate textures, and ecological resonances. The exhibition runs at Galerie Samy Abraham in Paris.
