Mimosa architekti's Fire-Resistant Cabin on the Sázava River
Mimosa architekti designed a cabin on the Sázava River in Czechia, replacing a previous structure destroyed by fire. The new cabin incorporates the original stone pedestal, which provides flood protection and a unique perspective over the river. The lightweight wooden structure features a charred larch exterior for durability and deterrence, while the interior uses natural wood panels and black metal elements like the stove and staircase. The cabin is self-sufficient except for electricity, with its own well and wastewater tank. The main space is double-height, fully glazed towards the river, with a terrace that can be closed with a folding shutter. Upper-floor bedrooms are minimal, emphasizing shared living.
