Mimmo Paladino's Untitled Exhibition in Cannobio
A major exhibition of Mimmo Paladino (born 1948 in Paduli) is on view at Palazzo Parasi in Cannobio, on Lake Maggiore, curated by Lorenzo Madaro. The show, titled "Non avrà titolo" (It Will Have No Title), references a key 1986 work and spans over fifteen years of the artist's activity. It occupies two upper floors of the 13th-century palace, adjacent to the 12th-century Torre Comunale, where large and medium-format paintings engage with the historic architecture. Outside, Paladino's monumental sculpture "Cavallo" (Horse) reimagines the natural landscape. Madaro's critical essay describes Paladino's work as a dialogue between contemporary and archaic, Mediterranean and popular, citing his use of gold ground in the 2000s that recalls Masaccio and Italian painting of the 13th and 14th centuries. The exhibition runs at the regional government seat of Piedmont.
