Mimmo Paladino's 'Testimoni' Debuts Outside Italy at Art Basel Unlimited

Mimmo Paladino's impressive series 'Testimoni' is set to make its international debut at Art Basel's Unlimited section, under the curation of Giovanni Carmine. Originating in 2009, this work comprises 20 life-sized figures crafted from tufa stone, reflecting Paladino's Campanian heritage and the ancient Paestum temples. The concept has transformed since the 1980s, with earlier iterations displayed in diverse materials, including a notable 1988 exhibition at the Venice Biennale. The tufa figures draw inspiration from ancient Mediterranean civilizations, especially the Matres Matutae of Capua (6th–2nd century BCE). After being showcased in Italy, the complete series will now be exhibited in Basel by Cardi Gallery. Art Basel Unlimited is scheduled for June 19–22, with previews on June 17–18, featuring 67 artworks from various artists. Unlimited Night occurs on June 19.
