Mimmo Paladino's stained glass windows for Teatro Due in Parma

Mimmo Paladino has created two large stained glass windows for Teatro Due in Parma, commissioned by the Regio Teatro Festival. Titled 'I Drammaturghi', the works feature portraits and names of playwrights who have influenced the artist, including Samuel Beckett, Carlo Goldoni, Eduardo de Filippo, Carmelo Bene, Euripides, and Bertolt Brecht. The windows are installed on the theater's stairwell, filtering light through a colorful composition. Paladino previously made a curtain for Teatro Regio in 2021 and has other works in Parma's CSAC collections. The project was presented by the artist alongside Oberdan Forlenza, president of the Fondazione Teatro Due, who recalled past collaborations including the 1995 'Montagna del sale' installation in Naples, which originated from a theatrical intervention. The stained glass technique references medieval figurative windows and early 20th-century artists like Henri Matisse and Georges Rouault. The work demonstrates Paladino's versatility within the Transavanguardia movement.
