Mimmo Paladino's 'Dormienti' fills Palazzo Citterio's Stirling Hall
After a 15-year absence from Milan's public spaces, Mimmo Paladino (born 1948 in Paduli) presents his iconic series 'Dormienti' at Palazzo Citterio's Stirling Hall, an underground brutalist space. The exhibition, open from May 16 to July 26, 2026, features 32 terracotta sculptures of fetal-like reclining figures, first unveiled in 1998. The installation includes a soundscape by Brian Eno, originally paired with the works in 1999. Curated by Lorenzo Madaro, the show also includes 15 works on paper from 1973, depicting Icarus themes, in a hidden technical room. Lighting designer Cesare Accetta collaborated on the immersive layout, making the sculptures appear as an inverted constellation. The exhibition is organized by Grande Brera and the Archivio Paladino, with a new monograph by Madaro forthcoming from Metilene Edizioni.
