Mimmo Paladino Brings Monumental Works to Brescia for Brixia Contemporary
Mimmo Paladino, a leading figure of the Transavanguardia movement, inaugurates the Brixia Contemporary project in Brescia. Organized by Fondazione Brescia Musei and the Comune di Brescia, this multi-year initiative invites an international artist each year to engage with the city's historic center through installations and museum works. Paladino, who held his first major solo exhibition in Brescia forty years ago, returns from May 6 to January 7 with a series of iconic totems and site-specific pieces. Notable new works include five Specchi ustori—mirrors made of brass, silkscreen, and paint, each five meters in diameter—created for the Teatro Romano di Brescia, and an unprecedented colossal terracotta installation spanning approximately 80 square meters in the atrium of the FS Metro station. The project aims to create a path from the city center to the Parco Archeologico and Museo di Santa Giulia.
