Mimmo Jodice's Rare Color Photos on View at Naples' Museo del Tesoro di San Gennaro
"I colori di Mimmo Jodice," an exhibition showcasing the only color project of the late photographer, has been inaugurated at the Museo del Tesoro di San Gennaro in Naples. This collection, dedicated to 17th-century Neapolitan art, was created by Jodice, who passed away in October 2025 at the age of 91, during the 1980s while he was visiting the Museo di Capodimonte for "La Civiltà del Seicento a Napoli." The exhibition, curated by Sylvain Bellenger, will be open until January 10, 2027, and features restored rare color prints by Barbara Jodice and Marco Spatuzza, including previously unseen images. The display incorporates baroque-inspired fabrics designed by Maddalena Marciano and Giuseppe Ambrosio, crafted with students from the Accademia di Belle Arti di Napoli. Additionally, a special guided tour for visitors with disabilities is available through the SCINTILLARTE project. A catalog, co-published by D'Uva and Paparo Editore, includes contributions from various authors, including Luca Massimo Barbero and Erri de Luca. The exhibition coincides with the museum's newly renovated entrance, designed by Vanni del Gaudio and constructed by Lavaggi&Montella, along with a new lighting system.
