Mimmo Jodice's 'Mediterraneo' Tour Across Europe, North Africa, and Middle East
A traveling exhibition of Mimmo Jodice's 'Mediterraneo' series, organized by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in collaboration with the Mart of Rovereto and collectors Anna Rosa and Giovanni Cotroneo, will tour Italian Cultural Institutes across the Mediterranean region in 2018. The series, a key part of Jodice's oeuvre, consists of 83 photographs exploring the Mediterranean Sea and its ancient civilizations. A selection of 40 images was first displayed at the Farnesina on December 22, 2017, during the Conference of Directors of Italian Cultural Institutes. The tour, titled 'Italia, Culture, Mediterraneo,' begins in February 2018 in Tel Aviv and continues to cities from Morocco to Iran. Jodice (born 1934 in Naples) developed the series over years of travel around the Mediterranean. The Cotroneo collection holds over 200 works by the artist. The exhibition previously featured at the Mart in Rovereto in 2016.
