Mimmo Jodice Honored with Museum Spaces, Exhibitions, and Documentary After Death

Following the death of Mimmo Jodice at age 91, multiple tributes are being planned. By 2026, a dedicated room at the Museo di Capodimonte in Naples will display his donated photographs, curated by director Eike Schmidt. A more ambitious project, the Casa della Fotografia dedicated to Jodice, will open by 2027 within the Cataneo building in the Real Bosco di Capodimonte, with a €3.5 million investment. It will house his darkroom, exhibition spaces, and a digitalization and analog photography education section. Also in Naples, the University Suor Orsola Benincasa will host the exhibition "Le Savoir sur la falaise" in 2026, featuring Jodice's photographs of the monastic complex, previously shown in Brussels and Matera. A national scientific event will accompany the show. At the MAN in Nuoro, the series "Sardegna" (1994-1999) is on view until November 16 as part of "Isole minori. Note sul fotografico dal 1990 ad oggi." The documentary "Oltre il confine" by Matteo Parisini, about Mimmo and his son Francesco Jodice, premiered at MAXXI on October 16, 2025, and will screen at the Istituto Italiano di Cultura in New York before airing on Sky Arte in November.
