Mimma Pisani curates Vettor Pisani exhibition at Museo Carlo Bilotti in Rome
Mimma Pisani, widow of Vettor Pisani (1934–2011), has curated a retrospective of his work at the Museo Carlo Bilotti in Rome, focusing on the theme of food. The exhibition includes paintings, sculptures, and a performance titled "Orazione" (2018), which Pisani conceived as a continuation of their collaborative work. The performance, featuring multiple female archetypes, ironizes the male-female dynamic. The show also presents a series of eight parallel shelves called "il sentiero delle sculture," a curatorial choice Pisani says her husband would never have made. The exhibition is free and draws on works collected in Rome and Lazio, with two pieces brought from northern Italy. Pisani plans to release her novel "Muraglia" during the exhibition, which deals with food and family pathologies. The couple met in Bari, where Pisani was a writer and Vettor worked as a set designer. Vettor Pisani's work is characterized by esoteric geometry, pyramid motifs, and symbolic dismemberment influenced by Hans Bellmer.
