Milo Manara's Caravaggio graphic novel second volume released

Panini Comics has published the second volume of Milo Manara's graphic novel biography of Caravaggio, titled "Caravaggio. La Grazia." The book covers the artist's years outside Rome, from his flight after killing a man to his death. Manara, who has been fascinated by Caravaggio since high school, based the narrative on official biographies and historical documents, though fewer records exist for this period, allowing for more imaginative but historically plausible storytelling. The volume opens with an introduction by art historian Claudio Strinati, who praises Manara's adherence to recent documentary research while noting that his narrative transcends philological data. The work is part of the "Panini 9L" line dedicated to author comics and is available in Regular, DeLuxe, and a limited DeLuxe edition of 1,000 signed copies. The first volume, "Caravaggio: la tavolozza e la spada," ended with Caravaggio's escape from Rome.
