Milo Manara's Artist Biographies in Comics at Bergamo Exhibition
A new exhibition in Bergamo showcases Milo Manara's comic works dedicated to historical artists, musicians, and filmmakers. Titled 'Milo Manara: Vite D’Artista – Da Caravaggio a Fellini,' it runs until September 10, 2023, at the Ex Chiesa della Maddalena. The show is part of the Bergamo-Brescia Italian Capital of Culture 2023 program and coincides with the first edition of Comicon in Lombardy. Over sixty panels feature figures like Caravaggio, Paolo Veronese, Pablo Picasso, Lucio Dalla, and Franco Battiato. A special section focuses on Manara's two-volume saga on Caravaggio (published in 2015 by Panini Comics), where he depicted the Baroque master with the features of friend Andrea Pazienza. The exhibition also includes rarely displayed personal documents and two drawings by Federico Fellini, gifted to Manara by the director.
