Millo: Street Artist on Walls as White Canvases
Francesco Camillo Giorgino, known as Millo (born 1979 in Mesagne, Italy), is a street artist who treats walls as large white canvases. He works almost exclusively in black and white, creating large-scale murals that incorporate surrounding architectural elements. His works are found in Rome, Milan, Bologna, Florence, Paris, London, Luxembourg, and Rio de Janeiro. Millo studied architecture in Pescara and credits the crisis in architecture as a springboard to focus on art. He uses aerial platforms and a long pole with a brush to sketch figures in gray before filling in shadows and black by hand. He finds inspiration from daily life and is most productive in the morning. Millo has participated in projects both in Italy and abroad, including in Ukraine (Kremenchuk, 2017) and Sweden (Helsingborg, 2018). He describes the experience of painting in public as meditative and admits to being shy. Future plans include street art projects in Europe during the summer.
