Millennials Find Unity at Awakenings Festival 2022 in Photo Reportage

A photo reportage by Elena Canesso, shot on disposable analog cameras, documents the Awakenings Festival 2022 in Hilvarenbeek, Netherlands. The festival, one of Europe's largest techno gatherings, drew over 300,000 participants from more than 80 countries. It featured 13 stages with global techno artists and a large camping area on wooded lakeside grounds. The reportage counters negative stereotypes about Millennials, portraying them as a community capable of unity, cultural openness, and collective energy. The text argues that despite economic crises, the pandemic, and social isolation, the festival demonstrates the potential of contemporary youth to produce positive change.
